Remember, the Bergen Mall is on Route 4 East at Forest Ave.

If you are coming from Fort Lee, take Route 4 East about 5 miles. You will pass "Riverside Square Mall" and Hackensack Ave. You will see The big 10 plex movie theater and "Toys R Us" on your left. The Bergen Mall is just past that on your left. Take Forest Ave exit(s) and go over overpass.

If you are comming from the Gargen State Parkway, Take Route 4 West. The Bergen Mall is about 1 mile past Route 17 (Don't get on Route 17!) You will also pass the "Garden State Plaza" and "Sam Ash Music Store" I'll have signs out for you.

Consult a map before you leave. I hate getting lost on the way to a car show.

Well, by all accounts the 2006 Bergen Museum Car Show was a great success! About 30 cars came by throughout the day. Many from the "MG Experience" Message Board, and the "NJ Z Car Club." Also a group of Chevy's, a Bel air, Alfa's, a Mini, a Thunderbird, and many more. The weather was perfect. A bit warm in the sun, but the parking lot was lined with trees, so there was plenty of shade to found. All and all, I am very happy with the turn out and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. I'm determined to start early for next year. Going to focus on a few local clubs and start going to some of the local "Cruise Nights" hand out fliers for this website.

These are just a few photos I took with my cell phone after I ran out of rilm in my camara. Better pics later. Including the trophy winners.

2nd Annual Bergen Museum Car Show

The show is on Sept 17th, (No rain date) at the Bergen Mall parking lot (Route 4 side). The mall is in Paramus, on Route 4. It's open to all classic/exotic cars.
Cars need to show up no later then 9:30. It is free. No registration needed but try to let me know if you plan on coming. Last year, I let the car owners decide where they wanted to park. We had about 30 cars (many American, British, French, etc). About 800 people showed up throughout the day. The museum's curator awarded trophies based on her favorite cars. There will be food for sale, art vendors, live music.

I saw this Honda Insight while driving to work on the Palisades Interstate. This car looks great and gets amazing mpg. And since I was having trouble keeping up with it, it seems to go pretty fast, too. I would have a hard time making a choice between an Insight and a new MINI. The MINI is a hot car. But the Insight is like a time machine into the future. Tough call.

This is the Silver Plate we had made for the Best of Show award. (I have thankfully lost 10 pounds since this picture was taken.) Standing to my left with microphone is the Bergen Museum of Art and Science's Currator, Natalia Koladzei. (The woman to her left, holding ribbon is one of the award winners who's name I can't remember). Natalia picked all the award winners and did a great job. The Bergen Museum's staff is all volunteer including the Museum's president, Lt. Col. Peter Knipe.

Fred Scimela's Dodge pick-up was a favorite of the Bergen Museum's curator. When Fred found this truck it was on its way to the junk yard. He rebuilt it from the ground up and it looks great.

We couldn't have asked for better weather on the day of the Bergen Museum Car show. It was a bit windy. (Some of the venders had trouble keeping their booths from toppling over.) But the breeze helped keep things from getting too warm. I wish the parking lot at the Bergen Mall had a few more trees for shade. Maybe the Mall's new owners will update the landscaping.

I love this car. The Sprite and its off-spring the MG Midget are at the very top of my list of cars I'd like to own. They're little, cute, and fun to drive. And white is the right color for them. I was really happy Geoff Lotman brought his car to the show last month.

I believe this was the only Italian car at the show last month. Almost everyone has owned an Alfa at one point or another. The Italian style in an affordable package is hard to pass up. This one looked great in black. Expect this make on American roads again the near future.

"This way to the car show." A very nice Austin-Healy came to the show. Austin-Healy is one of Britain's finest car makes. They have a very sporty yet refined look about them. A-H's are very collectable and have been steadily gaining in value over the years.

This car drove off with the trophy for BEST OF SHOW. It's a Ford Model A with every cartoon character you can think of hand painted over every square inch, inside and out. There was a crowd around the car throughout the show. I have some more photos of the Ford and the trophy that it won. I'll post them at a later time.

Doesn't this MGT look real nice in white? We only had one MG at the Bergen Museum car show last month. But it was a very fine example of the legendary British make. The MGB Midget is at the top of my list of classic cars I'd like to own. But I also love this earlier model. The MGT was very popular with US Soldiers during WWII. Many "T's" were packed up and shipped back to the States. The little roadster is credited with starting America's obsession with sport cars.

Is this a fun looking Vette, or what?! The All-American Corvette Club happens to meet right across the street from the Bergen Mall at Penera's Bread in Paramus. We had three or four Corvettes at the Bergen Museum car show last month.

Here is a good shot of the Bergen Museum's car show with the Bergen Mall in the background. The Bergen Mall opened in 1957 making it one of the oldest malls in America. JFK campaigned here in 1960. It has even been featured in Wierd NJ. Click here for more of the history of the Bergen Mall.

A local man, from Paramus, rode this classic Honda to the Bergen Museum Festival/Car Show. He came just as a spectator. But so many people were asking about his bike that he finally moved it over to the classic car lot. He told me he bought it the year it was made (in 1967 I think he said?). It really is a nice looking bike.

Here are the two French cars that came to last month's Bergen Museum's car show. The white car is John Garcia's Renault 4. The silver car just behind is Renato Sunico's Peugeot. The more I learn about French cars the more I like them. They were so ahead of their time in both style and performance. And Renaults, Peugeots, and Citroen's are still made today.

This is a shot of the two Mini's that made it out to the car show at the Bergen Mall. I like these older Mini's more then the New MINI's on the road today. But I am glad that BMW breathed new life into this classic British car. The New MINI is near the top of my list of new cars I'd like to own (or, more likely, lease)
